Power !
O.K. I bought this engine as an O.S. 25 LA R/C engine on eBay. I sold the R/C carb because I fly C/L (control line or u-control or ukie). Then I bought an O.S. 25 FP backplate, an O.S. 25 FP-S venturi, and an O.S. 25 FP-S needle valve assembly from Tower Hobbies. Then I installed the new C/L parts on the new engine. Then I mounted the engine on engine pads with Brodak wedges for offset. Don't forget to mount the tank with 1/2 in. R/C foam under it. Then I broke in the engine on 10% nitro fuel with 23% oil (1/2 castor and 1/2 synthetic). It is an ABC engine. That means run it on a rich 2 cycle from the get-go. Do not run it on a four cycle. I break ABC engines in by heat cycling them. In other words, run the engine fast for two minutes and then shut it down. Let it cool. Then run it fast for two more minutes. Keep this up until it has been run for a total of 1/2 hour. Then run a full tank of fuel through it. Then you are ready to fly. Breaking in an ABC engine this way will give you maximum power.
With this engine setup, this plane flies like "a bat out of hell". I like my planes to fly fast and turn tight. And this one does just that. If I want to I can fly an entire flight with this plane without turning around much-in other words-just keep doing inside loops, outside loops, horizontal eights, vertical eights, overhead eights, wingovers and reverse wingovers on the same side of the circle. This plane is that smooth and steady running and tight turning. In other words, it is an absolute blast to fly! I have over thirty flights on it now.
By the way I should mention this plane is very light thanks to the factory where it was built. It is definitely lighter that I can build them.
